Meet Dr. Armando Tovar, Ph.D., LPC-S

Dr. Armando Tovar, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, founded Hope and Resilience Trauma Therapy, PLLC, where he helps individuals heal from trauma and reclaim their innate dignity and strength. Rooted in an understanding that psychotherapy must honor the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—his practice incorporates trauma-informed care, evidence-based practices, and a strength-based approach.

With clinical experience in hospital settings, private practices, and non-profit organizations, Dr. Tovar has supported veterans, first responders, and emerging adults. He also serves as an assistant professor at Divine Mercy University and provides clinical supervision for Licensed Professional Counselor Associates, forming future counselors in both competence and compassion.

A Marine Corps veteran and committed Catholic clinician, Dr. Tovar brings a collaborative, trauma-informed, and hope-centered approach to every aspect of his work. He believes that true healing begins when people are seen, heard, and supported in their full humanity.

Dr. Tovar lives in Houston with his beloved wife and energetic toddler, who keep his heart full and his schedule lively. When he's not in the therapy room or the classroom, you can find him enjoying time with his family, enjoying brisket, or chasing after his little one.
